Small Circles

We always find reasons to exclude people because some of the darkest parts of human nature seek to define us versus them. This allows us to create a sense of safety by closing the acceptable circle of people we trust. This is ordinary and not great because small circles of trust never lead to greatness. Teams that distrust other members of the team cannot ever really go far. Great teams only allow people they trust to join the team. That’s why we should trust our teammates. How did they become teammates if we didn’t trust them? Isn’t that what an interview process is for?
