The biggest cause of dysfunction on a team is when an individual puts their own goals or preferences ahead of the team. I find it ironic that the person who usually says things like, “there is no I in team” is usually saying I would like to have things go less his way and more my way. This discussion is a good discussion to have when things are not going well. If the team is winning, it doesn’t make sense to acquiesce to those who are not satisfied with their role on the winning team. The best option should always get the best shot.
