Just Say No
Teams can waste time by doing things that are good but not best. Everyone can avoid the obvious time-wasters, but what happens when you are in a time crunch and have to choose between doing two very different activities that each have value towards the team’s goal? Great teams know when to say no to good things by discerning between good and best. Teams figure this out on a learning curve as they experience failures and disappointments. Since hindsight tends to give us 20/20 vision, we can see what would have been a better choice in the critical moment. Mistakes and failures are often avoided through fearful decision-making but when that happens, we never get a chance to look back to see where we could be better for the next attempt.
