Derailed by the Ideal

Most gameplans never survive long in reality. Teams must have a mindset that is flexible enough to accept a change in circumstance and stubborn enough to stay the course despite the increase in expected difficulty. One of the biggest things that cause teams to fail is overreacting to a change in circumstance. Perhaps it’s because the change is not what they signed up for and they don’t want any part of solving the unforseen problems and challenges ahead. This is most often the case with teams that have the least experience. They are easily derailed because they can only ever imagine an ideal journey and ideal outcome.
