The Yellow Light
How do you see a yellow light at an intersection? Do you hit the gas or the breaks? This can be a metaphor for how people see a deadline. The first type of person finds a reason to fall short and the second tends to get things done. Both types face similar challenges with different outcomes. The variable that affects the outcome is the way that they choose to respond to the challenge in front of them. I don’t believe people are born a specific type but rather they learn the responses that place them in either category. Perhaps people are born into situations that teach them those responses that either cause them to push through or justify disappointment, but the point is that we are not genetically inclined to either. Both categories are the result of learned behavior.
