I often wonder about how many questions go unanswered because they gone unasked. How many arguments could be avoided if a simple question was asked to provide the clarity needed to prevent the disruptive misunderstanding? How many mistakes could be preempted by a simple “stupid” question that we avoid in order to preserve our reputation until the actual mistake damages it anyway? How many minds are made up based on assumptions that could have been dispeled by information seeking?
The answer: too many. Just ask.
