Good News and Bad News

The bad news is that people are different and will challenge us to lead them differently. The goal of development is not to make clones of ourselves. The goal of development is to lead a person to grow into the best version of themselves. This means that different isn’t a symptom of unhealth. Leaders must keep an open mind to the differences of people as a positive and not a threat. There is a temptation to see differences as unhealthy and therefore everyone that doesn’t look like or do things similarly to myself is disqualified until they conform. The good news is that there are more people that are ready to join the team than we often think because they are not sick, they are just different.
