Embarrassed by Discipline

Discipline requires a lifestyle that is not entirely normal. It requires inconvenient choices that are perfectly fine in private, but something interesting occurs when those choices get found out by others. If I am disciplined to abstain from certain content in movies, certain foods, and certain words, that may mean that my friends have to see a movie without me, eat something I wouldn’t eat, or feel compelled to watch their language when I am around. This can caused them to feel judged or feel embarrassed that they are not making the same choices. This is why discipline is so difficult to maintain. It separates people by their choices. People can choose to embrace the differences or choose to separate because of them.
