Debriefing Equals Learning

A simple time of reflection, called a debrief, can make the difference between a great team and an ordinary team. Great teams are very interested in how things went and why they went that way. Ordinary teams are just happy to be done and on to the next project. It’s the learning that happens in the debrief that bridges the gap between the two.

  1. That is a cultural concept that must be developed. Depending on your organizations past, early attempts at a debrief may be viewed as second guessing or Monday Morning Quarterbacking. It’s important to create a debrief environment that is collaborative and non-punitive. The value of a debrief cannot be over stated. It is how we learn – great teams do the film work. Great post Dan!
