Flattening the Emotional Track

Circumstances rarely go as planned. That means that the team is always vulnerable to surprise. Everyone handles surprises with a different set of emotions. One teammate may love them while others are upset that their plans have changed. Whatever the emotion, a team’s journey can feel like a roller coaster ride. It’s the leader’s job to never allow emotion to swing too far up or down. The team will level out with the leader eventually if they intentionally flatten out the track with a baseline everyone can return to.
