Work ethic requires hope.
I think that everyone would agree that a quitter is not a good teammate. Quitting when things get difficult is an attribute that we should avoid at all costs. What makes someone quit? I believe that it’s as simple as a lack of hope. Quitters get to a hopeless state much quicker than most people. They lose hope and therefore respond to difficult work by not wasting their effort there. There is a time and place to cut losses, but the quitter has too low a pain threshold to make a good decision about when to quit.
