Scaling Leadership

When a team grows because of its successes, the leader must scale the leadership of the team. The system of decision making and authority that got them to the new found success will not carry them through to future success. Scaling the authority structure means sharing the authority of the team so that the burden of leadership is lightened. Leaders that see leadership as a burden are more likely to understand that it’s too heavy to carry alone. Leaders that see authority as a status will be less likely to share authority because it might diminish their status on the team.
