Leave it all on the field.

Every athlete at some time or another has been encouraged to leave it all on the field. It’s an encouragement to give your best effort. To leave the field without any regrets despite the outcome. This applies to life away from sports. I have noticed that it takes effort to say everything I should say every day. At the end of the day, can I say that I spoke up when I needed to? Speaking up takes effort because our natural inclination is often to say nothing in order to spare feelings, shorten tiresome conversation, or preserve our reputation. Great teammates give the effort to say what is needed, when it’s needed, despite the effort required. They go to sleep at night tired but guilt free.
