Hunches are dangerous.

Hunches are dangerous because they can close our minds to finding the best solution. Hunches are really assumptions backed by a strong feeling. Strong subjective feelings can be useful to lead us to a right course if they are tested and proven true. Our gut feelings are a combination of our subconscious and our experience working out a blank spot in our brains. The danger comes when the actual solution doesn’t line up with our gut and we are blindsided by a novel experience unlike anything we have encountered in the past. We like everything to be related to something we already know, but the world isn’t that small. When solving a problem, let’s take our hunches with a grain of salt.
