The Irony of Bitterness

Within any team dynamic, we will all experience an occasion where we feel slighted. On every occasion, we have to choose to get over it or become bitter. Bitterness is the immature response to being hurt. It’s a defense mechanism to avoid future hurt. The irony is that in order to operate in bitterness, we must allow the hurt to linger, as if letting go of a hurt makes us vulnerable to another one. It’s best to communicate hurts and feelings with our teammates so that we can let go and move on. Letting bitter thoughts spin in our mind is the least productive thing we could do as a teammate.
