Teammates: Reliable or Exciting

Recruiting for a team is one of the most important aspects of teambuilding. Not all teammates are equal in their fit and competence. When building a team, we must resist the urge to put more stock in the exciting teammate than the reliable teammate. The solid teammate that grinds out a competent performance over a long time is far better for the team than those who make a big exciting play that everyone talks about but soon forgets. Exciting moves unfortunately overshadow the reliable delivery of a teammate that is far more productive over time without showing up on Sportscenter.
