Valuing the Diversity of Excellence

Excellence is a buzz word that many teams place in their value statements. Excellence is a fine goal but what I have noticed is that many teams underestimate how diverse excellence is. We are all probably excellent in something but no one is excellent in everything. That is why we choose to join a team. Our collective excellence makes the team much better. When we say that we want everything to be excellent, we must leave room for the fact that we may not be aware of what is excellent in areas outside of our expertise.
