The Anti-Vision

A few fearful team members should never veto a new direction. Deciding things based on the fear of a few is a great path to mediocrity. If the team does its best to communicate the need for change on the path forward, then it is free to take the steps on that path regardless if others are willing. Not every team situation is a democratic one. Communicating the why of a new direction is being a great teammate. Demanding a vote of approval simply to maintain the status quo is not being a great teammate. Teams that make decisions based on what might go wrong will never reach their potential. If a compelling vision moves a team forward, then the fearful defense of the status quo holds a team back for all the wrong reasons.
