Settling for the Extreme
Team dynamics are best when they are diverse in skill and opinion. Great teams allow each other to speak into their lives and they respect the stances that their teammates take on the issues that get discussed. Ordinary teams don’t take the effort to draw close to each other but rather protest and settle on the extreme ends of a debate to make a point. They do this because it’s easier to be right than to see how another person could be more right. This is a great way to lose great teammates. A great way to retain great teammates is to show them that they are more valuable than our opinion and work to draw closer on tough issues.
