Identifying the Opponent
One of the distinguishing marks of a great team is how they view their opponent. Opponents are easy to identify in sports. Teams outside of sports, however, may have a difficult time identifying an opponent. Opponents are simply that which opposes a team. It can be another team. It can be a competitive business. Opponents can be circumstances or ideas that hinder the team from succeeding. It can be a person or a group of people who work against the team. Having an accurate view of an opponent will determine the long-term success of a team. Not identifying an opponent correctly or underestimating them can lead to surprise challenges that result in disappointment and unnecessary failure.
