Anxiety vs. Stress
A great teammate understands not only how to manage the inevitable stress that comes our way but how to leverage it to be an advantage. Stress is often confused with anxiety. Athletes that can focus are not stress-free but use stress as a tool to focus. When we allow fear to enter our stress, it works against us in the form of anxiety. Anxiety clouds the mind and causes hesitation. Stress without fear is a way to sharpen the mind to the point of being, as some describe, in the zone. Great teams don’t get rattled because they don’t mix fear into their stress. They perform better in the stressful environment.
