Useful Optics
Understanding the optics of a situation is helpful if they are not used to justify a decision, but rather to prepare for the impact of a decision. I recently heard Ravi Zacharias say something profound; “We all have the freedom to choose, but our choices are still connected to the natural consequences of the choices we make.” When we can anticipate what people will think about a decision, we are able to understand how our decisions impact others. This should allow us to address any hurt, pain or resistance to a decision with a gentle understanding.
