Lingering Anxiety

Great teams deal with anxiety in a healthy way. Pregame butterflies are something that is both normal and healthy. Teams that are not anxious at some point are either dead or indifferent to what is at stake. Anxiety that lingers is dangerous and unhealthy because it limits learning and growth. Anxiety can be an inhibitor that reminds us of past failures and the very real emotions attached to those failures. When anxiety lingers, it crowds out the learning that can prevent a future failure. This saps a team of confidence and ultimately it’s best chance for success.
