Limiting Outlets for Concerns
If someone seems negative in all of my interactions with them, I have to evaluate whether or not they have any other outlet to express concerns. It can be frustrating to only hear negative things from a person all of the time, but on larger teams they may not have any other time to voice concerns because of a lack of access to me. When a teammate doesn’t feel heard concerning a deep care that they have, they will be opportunistic in making sure their concerns are considered. It is worth setting up a feedback loop to provide an appropriate time to share concerns. This may free up the teammate that seems negative to give more positive input.
