Who gets to speak?
Teams always have a choice in whom they listen to. Teams that are secure in their identity, mission, purpose and values listen to those that understand their identity, mission, and values. Teams that struggle in those areas will listen to just about anyone in search of validation. It’s always good to be open to feedback. It’s great to get an outside perspective. It’s also great to know who knows the team well enough to speak into it. Humility isn’t listening to everyone. The truly humble listen to those that speak the truth and respond appropriately. Anyone at any given time can find someone to support the narrative that justifies and perpetuates chosen mediocrity.
