I have learned that teammates do not always need to know how I do my job. In an effort to over-communicate, I have made the mistake of over-explaining my methods to teammates who had no chance of understanding how my methods could possibly work. Their brains work differently than mine and I ended up creating more doubt than past results with the same method actually deserved. Things were better when they were blissfully unaware of the how and really enjoyed the what when it mysteriously just happened. Looking back over time, I am a better teammate when I over-communicate for the sake of collaboration. I am not a great teammate when I over-explain for the sake of acceptance.
