Diversity of Method

Projection is the mother of all micromanagement. If a leader projects preference and methods onto her teammates, she cannot claim to be an empowering leader. Some leaders do this because they have done the job they now oversee and have found some great methods. Some actually believe they are the owner of all that is correct and sound. Others are too insecure to allow a better way to be discovered by someone else. Regardless of the cause of demanding a preferred method, the result is not an empowering experience and will likely cause the leader to lose great people and only keep teammates who are comfortable with never having to solve their own problems. Projection results in micromanagement which results in a mediocre team at best.
