Common Sense Killer: Present Bias
How does the slow fade of discipline happen? Why does the vision of the future seem so far off? How do we always end up back at the drawing board? It’s because we all have a tendency to believe that tomorrow will be just like today. This leaves little motivation for changing today to have a different tomorrow than we had yesterday. This bias in our brains hurts the successful and the unsuccessful. Successful teams believe they will always be successful and are less motivated to take care of the little things that got them there. Unsuccessful teams don’t believe they can change their fate and don’t care enough to do the little things that could, over time, change it. If we take care of the little things, the little things take care of us regardless of our situation.
