A Double Limit

A team leader who has poor delegation skills limits the team in more ways than one. A team by its nature is meant to share a workload. A team leader who fails to spread the effort effectively makes the team more busy than necessary. Inefficiency is the short-term cost of a lack of proper delegation. Development of future leaders is the long-term cost of someone who either hoards responsibility or delegates to the wrong teammates. The best teams work in the parallel worlds where they are learning from the past, working in the present and looking to the future. A lack of delegation learns nothing from hindsight and discounts the future by overworking today.
