Over-Reaction Monday
I absolutely love that ESPN has a segment called over-reaction Monday. It’s where everyone talks about what the events of the previous day mean for the immediate future. It’s hilarious to watch them discuss, in a tongue in cheek way, the extreme possibilities based on one recent game. Great teams understand what information matters and when that information matters. As a coach, I was always amazed that the team’s performance didn’t look nearly as bad on film as a loss made us feel before we studied the film. The reverse was also true for games we were lucky to win. The key is to avoid an over-reaction regardless of circumstances.
