The YouTube Wannabe and Wikipedia Grad
If I know enough about something to not have to ask a true expert, I become dangerous to my team. The team is now in danger of the mediocrity that comes with skipping years of training with a “how to” video on YouTube or reading an article on Wikipedia. I am not disparaging either of those useful tools. There is a time and place for them. They are not a valid replacement for a true expert when the team’s future and long-term effectiveness is on the line. Great teammates know when and who to ask when they are out of their depth.
