Correct Measurement

When we assess our team’s performance, we must be careful to understand what we are assessing. Teams must understand that being good and feeling good are not always the same thing. If the goal is to feel good and we instead do good, that isn’t a win. This can also happen when we do the “right” thing for the wrong reason or with the wrong method. We may have accomplished something but it cost us credibility or compromised our team values. On the flip side, the team can feel great about how efforts are going and meanwhile, not get the intended results. Measuring an objective goal with subjective measurements and vice versa will diminish the effectiveness of a team over time.
