The Trust Paradox

There can be a trust paradox on a team. The more a team communicates, the more trust will develop. When we don’t trust a teammate, we demand more communication. That demand communicates a lack of trust and is often responded to with a demand for trust instead of communication. Therein lies the problem. The paradox happens when a teammate expects to replace communication with trust or vice versa. Trust and communication go hand in hand and will not occur exclusive of each other. It’s like asking for hydrogen instead of oxygen when you really want water.
