Overconfidence Can Kill a Team

Teams that get used to success can sometimes be susceptible to overconfidence. Overconfidence is the extreme opposite of anxiety. Overconfidence sets in as a team forgets the care and effort required for past success and quality.

Teams that are successful over an extended period of time can begin to feel entitled to success and lose what author Jim Collins calls “productive paranoia”. The sweet spot can be found in confidence that leaves nothing to chance.
