Friendship: Acceptance

Friendship doesn’t develop until acceptance of a person is demonstrated once knowledge about each other is gained. You can always tell whether a teammate is a friend or just friendly if they accept you for who you are despite all your flaws and liabilities. Acceptance communicates that we are worth it. We all have our insecurities and great leaders and teammates are a safe place to be ourselves without judgment. This is developed over time as we have opportunities to accept people after their worst moments. This demonstrates that it’s safe to have a bad day. Encouragement replaces judgment after a bad moment in a friendship.
