Fear, Judgement, and Generosity

I have observed that teammates who give the most affirmation are also the most generous in other areas of their lives. Affirmation is a form of giving and people can be just as stingy with words of encouragement as they are with their money. Generous people give without thought of reward and consequence.

People who struggle with being generous simply spend too much time talking themselves out of giving based on a projected outcome. What is the difference between someone refusing to give money to a homeless man because you don’t know what he will spend it on and withholding affirmation because you don’t want to feed a person’s pride? Both are opportunities to be generous and our choice says a lot about our hearts.
