The Eye in the Sky Doesn’t Lie
When I was a football coach I was always surprised at how often I would change my opinion of how my team played after reviewing the game film. After a loss I would see that we were so close to making great plays and that the players didn’t perform as badly as we felt they had. After a win we would often see the opposite when the euphoria of a close victory wore off. We would see how we miss opportunities that nearly cost us the win we just celebrated. Feelings in the moment can taint our assessment of any given situation. It is always good to evaluate regularly because nothing is as good as it seems and nothing is as bad as it seems in the moment.
