Passive aggressive teammates have strong opinions but do not express them publically. What we choose not to say in conflict will eventually be manifested in our behavior over time. Our bodies and minds are terrible liars.
There are many reasons for passive aggressive behavior. Some people have been hurt by an overly aggressive personality in the past and have given up dialogue as a viable means of communication. Others were culturally taught in their families to “keep the peace” and not “rock the boat”. This never serves a team well because eventually conflict will happen. If we do not feel that we have an outlet for input we will act out in a variety of ways to send the message through attitude, body language or outright defiance.
