Be a Great Teammate: Understanding Shared Authority
Great teammates understand how they fit on the team. Both the leader and the rest of the team understand that they share responsibility and authority. Understanding the word “share” is key. A great teammate has an understanding of their current role and works hard to be a compliment the other roles on the team. There are always two types of roles around a team decision. One role makes the decision and the other role becomes a resource to the decision maker. When a team leader has to make a decision, he must rely on the teammates around him to help him make the best decision. The leader must assume the resource role when he delegates and empowers another teammate to make a decision in their shared responsibility.
Great teammates that understand shared authority protect the team dynamic.
