You prefer excellence if you see a failure as a step closer to finding the right answer to a problem. You prefer excellence if you highlight a failure in an opportune moment for the purpose of making it into a learning moment for the team. You prefer excellence if you can use past failures to prevent future failures so that you can make all new mistakes.
The road to excellence is ongoing and messy at times. Excellence requires the mess that perfection works too hard to avoid.
