Learn to get good at something.
I think it is important for parents to allow their children to learn how to get good at something. This doesn’t mean that we berate referees and coaches that point out the mistakes of their kids. It means that we encourage our kids to learn how to receive criticism and coaching so that they can improve. Our kids need to learn how to fight through the grind when something is necessary but not fun. Our kids need to hear that they are not good enough when they aren’t and then be encouraged to face the world with that knowledge so they can work towards improving. If we don’t, we are setting up our children to be horrible future teammates.
