Athletes seem to get it.
I have noticed that athletes usually understand evaluation better than those that have never had any real experience on a team. I was raised in a football culture that helped me expect critique and criticism after every play in practice and in the film room. It wasn’t ever nice, but it made me better. I remember cringing while watching a film and thinking about a missed play that was coming up. The coach would point it out and we would work on improving at the next practice. I learned that, as long as I improve after my mistakes were exposed, I didn’t die from embarrassment. I actually became a better player.
