Pushing the Boredom Barrier
There is a line that is crossed when we decide to be good at something. It means that we commit to doing whatever it takes to become good at it. This includes enduring the boring stages of repetition and delays in progress. Constant success can be boring if we decide that we have arrived and there is nothing more to achieve. We settle for a level of proficiency that is good but not game changing. True expert performance moves past this and into a place of automaticity at the most basic level so that innovation can be free to be explored at levels previously unimagined.
