Do they understand good leadership?
It’s all fun and games until someone is held accountable. Response to accountability is a clear test of a great teammate. Some people think that redirection and having to hold someone accountable means that a person is a problem. Not so. I love having people on my team that take feedback well and expect it to improve. It’s the teammates that are appalled that you would hold them accountable to their word that are the real problem. The uncoachable teammate doesn’t understand leadership. They think empowerment means the right to do things their way, at their pace, with no consequence. Don’t settle for teammates that feel entitlement to no accountability. There are plenty of great teammates that understand leadership and would love to work with you.
