I hate stretching. I mean I hate it. It hurts and feels like a waste of time. When I was younger, I could get away without it but now I know that I can’t. Stretching is a smart preparation for exercise. When skipped, it can risk catastrophic failure. The same can be said about proper set up. Projects that are not properly set up risk the same type of injury to an organization that a lack of stretching can cause a muscle. Set up is mundane. It’s not where the fun begins. Professionals don’t need everything to feel fun to commit to doing it. Great teams understand that leaving nothing to chance by properly setting up ensures the fun to continue. Proper set up is the key to consistent results. Everything else is just like gambling your paycheck at a casino. Eventually the odds catch up with you even if you get away with gamble.
