Freaking Out

Why do people freak out under pressure? The better question is probably why don’t people freak out? Pressure comes on us unexpectedly. The team feels it when a deadline approaches. It comes out of nowhere when the team receives disappointing news they did not plan for. Pressure isn’t the thing we look forward to when we head to work each day. Why then do some people operate so well under pressure? They know what to do. They have been properly trained and have succeeded under those circumstances before. They have anticipated the pressure and although they didn’t know exactly when it would hit, they knew what they wanted to do if it came on them. People freak out because they are caught off guard. Luck favors the prepared and future calm is the blessing of a victorious past experience.
