Teams need to have fun, but great teams are not entitled to it. Too often people get bored and the purpose of the team seems to get prioritized lower than their general entertainment. People like to think about the fun rewards of greatness. Those same people are less likely to think about the far less fun process that results in the fun rewards. Fun has its time and place. Most teams sell out for the immediate gratification of the normal standard and compromise. Great teams outlast them to the type of greatness that isn’t normal.
