Working the Plan

Diligence helps us refuse to give in. Diligence requires a plan. It takes work, intention, and conviction. Those three requirements are the reason that the best result seems so difficult to accomplish. We only ever do what we care about. Saying something is a goal is a lot different than waking up in the morning ready to make it happen. Goals are accomplished through conviction. Conviction is the antidote to compromise. Conviction sees every action that compromises the goal as wrong. It’s wrong to skip the gym. It’s wrong to skip the report I am expected to write. It’s wrong to give less than my best effort. A team that lives with conviction no longer approaches life with the mentality of “what can I get away with” but rather “what can I be better at today.” Better. Today. That’s working the plan with diligence.
