Great teams leave nothing to chance. They take care of the little things and the little things take care of them. Have you ever been on a team that had leadership that was too afraid to be overbearing? They want to portray a laid back attitude. Perhaps it’s their way to connect personally. They downplay the details and make everything sound relaxed. These “laid back” leaders sound cooler than those “micromanaging” leaders that are always talking about check lists and stuff. But how cool are those leaders in the moment when something embarrassing happens? They suddenly go from laid back to Queen of Hearts demanding heads to roll. Appreciation for attention to detail is the sign of a leader that understands what it takes to create a safe work environment. The second a leader down plays the importance of details, I begin to wonder what they will be like when a ball is dropped.
