Discipline is something that takes intention, effort, and commitment. It usually requires us to say no to ourselves at crucial moments to keep our internal voices and desires from sabotaging our well thought out plans for success. The ability to say no to ourselves has a lot to do with the level of discipline we can accomplish. There are a lot of reasons why we give in, but the underlying reason is very subtle. We want the immediate gratification of an undisciplined lifestyle more than we want the long term benefits of a disciplined one.
